Powered by the YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee, MEND works to end violence against women by engaging and educating men. The YWCA has extensive experience treating the symptom, but violence against women is truly a man’s problem that desperately needs a cure. When men understand how our culture supports violence, they become a major part of the solution.

Objectives of this training include:

• Raise awareness about the prevalence of violence against women
• Uncover subtle ways our society reinforces sexist and objectifying biases
• Connect the dots between harmful jokes and actions
• Unpack the difference between healthy and unhealthy masculinity
• Empower attendees with situational examples and strategies to step up and speak out against negative cultural norms
• Challenge attendees to help create a community that respects and values women and girls

NO MORE

NO MORE

NO MORE aims to raise public awareness and engagement around ending domestic violence and sexual assault. Launched in March 2013 by a coalition of leading advocacy groups, service providers, the U.S. Department of Justice, and major corporations, NO MORE is supported by hundreds of national and local groups and by thousands of individuals, organizations, universities, and communities who are using its signature blue symbol to increase visibility for domestic violence and sexual assault.

One Love Foundation

One Love Foundation

It is the goal of the One Love Foundation to honor Yeardley Love, a unversity-level Lacrosse player beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend, by bringing an end to Relationship Violence by educating, empowering and activating campus communities in a movement for change. We know that, given the chance, Yeardley certainly would have wanted to help.

Partner in Prevention Training

Darkness to Light

Organizations that apply and are approved are recognized as a Darkness to Light Partner in Prevention for a period of one year. The organization is given a dated 
Partner in Prevention   emblem to display at their facility, place on their website, and use on printed materials. The emblem is a sign to the community that the organization has made a commitment to prevention and has put measures in place to prevent child sexual abuse in their organization and in their community.

Positive Coaching Alliance Workshops

Positive Coaching Alliance

Typically, an individual school or youth sports organization hosts a Leadership workshop for its directors, a separate Double-Goal Coach workshop for all its coaches, and a separate Second-Goal Parent workshop. A Triple-Impact Competitor workshop is available for teenage athletes in the school or organization. PCA also offers Partnerships that include workshops for school districts, conferences, park-and-recreation organizations, leagues, and youth sports consortiums in all 50 states and several other nations. Each workshop takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours and is led by a PCA Trainer with deep athletic and coaching experience (usually at least three years at the high school level or above). The Trainer explains PCA's three key principles -- Redefining "Winning" as Mastery of Sport, Filling Emotional Tanks and Honoring the Game -- and leads attendees through a series of interactive exercises based on common youth sports scenarios. The result is that the group of leaders, coaches, parents or athletes begins to explore different approaches for success and establishes a common vocabulary for use in providing athletes a positive, character-building youth sports environment.

Safe4Athletes provides speakers for sport association, professional association conventions or other meetings conducting programs to address the issue of athlete welfare and how every athlete can be provided with a safe and positive sport environment free of sexual misconduct, bullying, and harassment. Sport Situational Prevention Approach (SSPA)

"The Sport Situational Prevention Approach (SSPA) is a new, three-year, grant-funded project in collaboration with leading authority Dr. Keith Kaufman. The SSPA aims to:

1. Help keep athletes safe;
2. Support and strengthen prevention efforts in sports;
3. Create safety tools tailored for use by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and elite youth sports organizations;
4. Create an early warning system to identify and address safety risks when they are in their earliest stages."

SW PA Says NO MORE

Fisa Foundation

FISA Foundation, in partnership with The Heinz Endowments and the United Way of Allegheny County developed Southwest PA Says No More to showcase the important prevention-focused work happening here, and to make it easier for individuals and organizations to take action to stop gender-based violence.
