HEART Women & Girls in Chicago, IL implemented a series of trainings for Muslim students and student leaders on college campuses nationally to develop victim-centric approaches, policies, and best practices that address and prevent sexual violence in student organizations.

Enhance Partnerships
HEART Women & Girls partnered with the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) to conduct IRB research on the project. HEART also engaged student organizations and campuses including University of California at Davis (UCD); University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC); University of California at Irvine (UCI), Georgetown, UCLA, Berkeley, and University of Illinois at Champaign. And they partnered with Muslim Students Association West (MSA West) and Association of Campus Muslim Chaplains (ACMC)

Provide Resources
Significant resources were allocated including staff time for mentoriship and cultivation of these student leaders. Additional HEART resources were used in the training.

Educate & Train
3 day-long student leader trainings (University of California at Davis (UCD) and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and University of California at Irvine (UCI) training 25 student leaders. Conducted two-hour sexual violence 101 workshop reaching 184 students on the following six campuses: UCD, UCI, Georgetown, UCLA, Berkeley, and University of Illinois at Champaign. Additional 101 workshops are currently being organized at UIC. HEART also hosted two webinars to continue the student leader education.
